In September, all Armenians celebrate the Exaltation of the Holy Cross. It is celebrated starting September 13th and continues for a few days. Many churches and clergy dress the cross with basil (or "rahan") and bless it. Then priests bless the rest of the parish by throwing holy water throughout the church. This feast is one of the five major feast days in the Armenian church.
