Yesterday, on behalf of President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton congratulated Armenians everywhere on the anniversary of their independence from the Soviet Union. She wished all Armenians "a safe and happy independence day, with peace and prosperity in the year ahead.", and hopes to strengthen "the ties of friendship and affection between our countries.".
